Welcome to California

the 2010 California Race Tracker!

2010 will be a fun election year in California. One U.S. Senate seat and all 53 House seats are all up for re-election. All statewide offices; Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Controller, Insurance Commissioner, and Education Superintendent; are also up. 20 of the 40 State Senate seats (even-numbered districts) and all 80 State Assembly seats will also be up, as will all 4 districts in the Board of Equalization and 3 Supreme Court justices. This site will also cover two upcoming mayoral races, the Los Angeles mayoral election in 2009, and the San Jose mayoral election in 2010.

I designed this site to keep track of all the election madness in one place. Please feel free to jump right in and contribute anything you think might be useful for everyone heading into 2010. If you've heard about a candidate possibly running for office, please either include a link to a reputable news source or clearly note that what you've added is merely a rumor, an educated guess, a recruitment idea, or just conventional wisdom. Rumors are okay, but they ought to have some basis in reality.

Sub-pages dealing with each race branch off from each of those. For all races, each race gets a sub-page, with individual races branching off at that point. For some examples, check out the Governor, State Senate District 8, US Congress main page, and the CA-23 page. Thank you for your contributions!

My name is Jared Gaynor, and I'd like to be your assembly representative for the 5th AD here in CA!
I recently submitted my paperwork to the California Secretary of State to declare myself a candidate for this office in 2010. I'm a progressive democrat who believes in the sanctity of our civil rights and that a representatives top priority MUST be to hold government accountable to it's citizens. Please join me on our way to 60 Assembly seats in 2010, and we can get California back on track together.
Visit www.electjaredgaynor.com to join me in this fight.

Cheers,
Jared B. Gaynor

Since I set up this site, I might as well post the first thread, where everyone can introduce themselves.

I'll start by posting an introduction of myself and this site.

I have been interested in California politics dating back to the 2003 recall election. I jumped on the election prediction bandwagon in 2006 after meeting other political aficionados that had their own blogs with commentary as well as predictions, by creating a blog of my own that tracked national politics and focused more on California politics. I used formulas factoring in polls and pundit ratings to give an objective look at how presidential (2008), gubernatorial, Senate, and House elections would go, and so far I have had pretty good accuracy.

Between the 2006 and 2008 elections, I got into number-crunching on registration numbers and past election results, and then decided to set up this site, where anyone that's interested in the next California elections in 2010 can contribute what they know to make this site great.
