In case people haven't noticed this state is in some serious financial trouble. Let the results show that our elected officials have failed. It appears we will soon be bankrupt, in addition Californians will have a mountain of debt to pay back. We need to look at the policies and direction that these failed politicians have prescribed to.
The state of California is one of the most expensive places to conduct business. As a business owner myself I am speaking from experience. Attracting business creates jobs and generates tax revenue for the state, county and city. California has one of the highest tax burdens on its people, up to 9.6% on your income and up to 10.25% sales tax in some cities. Then take into account property tax, rising DMV fees, taxes and fees on your electric, telephone, cable TV, water and trash bills. The bottom line is we have enough taxes already and more taxes is not the solution. A smaller State Government with a smaller appetite for spending is better. Incentives for business to move or expand here in California because of lower taxes really works. I know the state of Texas has a very large financial surplus, $9.0 billion I believe. California should look at the Texas model and make some changes, we know what doesn't work. Californians need to get informed with the facts and please go vote in 2010, its the only power we have to fix this crisis.

My name is Jared Gaynor, and I'd like to be your assembly representative for the 5th AD here in CA!
I recently submitted my paperwork to the California Secretary of State to declare myself a candidate for this office in 2010. I'm a progressive democrat who believes in the sanctity of our civil rights and that a representatives top priority MUST be to hold government accountable to it's citizens. Please join me on our way to 60 Assembly seats in 2010, and we can get California back on track together. Visit www.electjaredgaynor.com to join me in this fight. Cheers, Jared B. Gaynor

Again, thanks to SE-779 at the Georgia Race Tracker.
I will go over with you what kinds of trolls there are and how you ought to deal with them. 1. Troll: Trolls are the most original kind, these sore citizens are characterized by bad spelling, lots of CAPITAL LETTERS, and a fondness for phrases such as "you liberals", "Conservative Fascists", or "America haters". They have a short lifespan, and are usually banned within hours of their first posts. 2. Concern Trolls are slightly more clever, they pretend at being members of the opposite party, but at every turn seem to suggest the most damaging, boneheaded or offensive thing they can. These are easier to catch than you might imagine: since it hardly matters whether someone is an obvious concern troll or just an idiot. 3. Conspiracy Trolls are anybody who repeatedly posts badly sourced stories here. All contributors are responsible for the accuracy and legitimacy of the things they post. Posters that have a history of ignoring basic rules of journalism are not welcome here because they detract from the reputation of the site and damage the authors who do put a lot of effort into their articles. Whatever the topic is, 9/11 theories, Israel theories, or whatever, are irrelevant. It is the quality of the evidence presented that matters. 4. Purity Trolls are trolls from the left, otherwise known in real life as drama queens. No matter how pure your stance is, their position is more pure. No matter how compassionate, informed, skeptical, or ardent your opinion is, theirs is more so. These trolls are insistent that they are the true spirit of whatever, and spend their time being quite put out that the rest of us don't try to turn over our resources, our audiences, and our respect to them. The way to deal with these trolls is to contact me if you suspect one and I'll look into it. |

(Thanks go to SE-779 at the 2010 Georgia Race Tracker)
Since I can't be here all the time to watch over the site for trolls, I thought I'd provide some guidelines for defining trolls and what to do about them: How to define a troll: A troll is a person who is engaging in behavior which is directly contrary to the stated goals of the site, which is to provide a place to go to to find out about most, if not all, races in California. There are a number of things which very clearly constitute trolling, which I will go over now. Examples of trolling include the following: 1. "DemocRATS suk", or "To hell with Rethuglicans" or any of the other derivations of true trolling are not allowed. Don't argue, just let me know about them. 2. Advertisements are in some cases considered thread jacking, but only if a user is posting the same comment to multiple threads. That behavior is not tolerated, and may result in banning. 3.Off-topic posts. In conversations, it is rude to interrupt a thread conversation with your own unrelated threadjacking. If I hear of this, you will be warned three times. If I have to intervene more than three times on this issue, you will be banned. 4. Posting proven-false information, conspiracy theories, or debunked talking points. This behavior is very annoying, and will result in banning if it happens more than three times. 5. Posting personal attacks on other site users, including following them from thread to thread. Not only is this behavior not tolerated, it will result in banning without any warning. 6. Attempting to reveal the personal information of other site users. This is not just trolling, but is expressly forbidden and will result in immediate banning without warning. |

With the current economic situation going on in California, The GOP can write off their chances of holding CA-GOV in 2010. This also means that Phil Angeliedes and Bill Lockyer wont be running in 2010 either. I expect either John Garamendi, Jack O'Connell, Jerry Brown, John Chiang, Debra Bowen, Gavin Newsom, Loretta Sanchez and/or Steve Westly to run for Governor in 2010. I expect Poinzer to win his Primary 58%-42% at this point. Garamendi emerges from the Primary by 7% and crushes Poinzer 63%-37%. If Brown emerges, it is 65%-35% Brown. If it is O'Connell, it will be 64%-36% O'Connell. If it is Westly, it will be 62%-38% Westly. If it is Sanchez, it will be 62%-38% Sanchez. If it is Newsom, it will be 60.5%-39.5% Newsom. If it is Chiang, it will be 66%-34% Chiang. If it is Bowen, it will be 64%-36%. If Campbell emerges from the GOP Primary, it will be 69%-31% Garamendi, 71%-29% Brown, 67%-33% O'Connell, 66%-34% Westly, 64%-36% Sanchez, 70%-30% Chiang, 74%-26% Bowen, or 62%-38% Newsom. It is official, CA-GOV is gone for the GOP.

Since I set up this site, I might as well post the first thread, where everyone can introduce themselves.
I'll start by posting an introduction of myself and this site. I have been interested in California politics dating back to the 2003 recall election. I jumped on the election prediction bandwagon in 2006 after meeting other political aficionados that had their own blogs with commentary as well as predictions, by creating a blog of my own that tracked national politics and focused more on California politics. I used formulas factoring in polls and pundit ratings to give an objective look at how presidential (2008), gubernatorial, Senate, and House elections would go, and so far I have had pretty good accuracy. Between the 2006 and 2008 elections, I got into number-crunching on registration numbers and past election results, and then decided to set up this site, where anyone that's interested in the next California elections in 2010 can contribute what they know to make this site great.
